New modular accommodation and refurbishment of existing farm house to provide offices for the University site management team for the North West Cambridge Development and Artist Studio and presentation area for students. We were appointed under a Design and Build contract via Coulson Building Group. We acted as lead consultant, for the contractor’s team, liaising with the universities client side appointed Architect, Project Manager and Universities Design Manager for the North West Cambridge Development. Our role was to interpret the employer’s requirements, and deliver the design for the new modular office building and the refurbishment of a Victorian farmhouse to provide modern offices, artist’s studio.  We worked closely with the Universities team in the early stages, to ensure the layout and final specification were achieved. We provided a multidiscipline service and were responsible for delivering the Architectural, M&E design, in house and appointed and managed all other consultants, such as structural, geotechnical engineer. We worked closely with the modular building supplier to ensure this third party also understood the employer’s requirements, both architecturally and technically.   Templeman Design obtained building regulations approval and liaised with the planning authority to ensure all planning conditions were achieved. We provided a fully designed solution for construction and assisted the contractor through to completion.Additional works were also introduced by the University to provide a mock up apartment to trial various student apartment strategies. Our performance and relationship with the contractor for delivering projects in tight time scales was recognised by the university who believed our team was best suited to the brief.
