Conisborough College was completed in 2010, however students and staff have been complaining that the internal street was uncomfortable in the winter. Templeman Design was appointed to provide a feasibility study to review the existing building fabric and capacity of the existing plant equipment. Following the investigation a solution was proposed to provide a ducted ventilation system which would provide tempered air at a set temperature maintaining a comfortable environment. The system is provided with extract and heat recovery unit to minimise running cost and maintain an air change within the street atrium, to achieve a comfortable environment. In order to overcome visual and noise issues it was decided to install the plant equipment at roof level, and to reduce concerns regarding the internal appearance of the ducted system, 3d representations were provided to gain acceptance of the scheme. A detailed design was produced and tender documentation prepared in a short time scale ready for the works to commence onsite.
